Ever since Royal Blood debuted ‘Hook, Line, and Sinker’ at Reading and Leeds last August, we’ve been gagging for even more material from them. Then, they released ‘Where Are You Now?’ for HBO’s hit series Vinyl.

Like a hamster locked in its cage, we’ve been slowly drip fed the stuff that keeps us going. Now, all of a sudden, we have even more to be excited about, and I’m not talking about Royal Blood this time. I am, in fact, talking about what seems to be the female version of the Brighton duo.

The Pearl Harts bring the same hard, electric and heavy sound to our ears that we’ve been dying to hear. Kirsty and Sara have released the monstrous ‘Go Hard’ and it really is a monster. The striking thing about this song is how it seems to reverberate female empowerment as they tell us they can ‘go hard’ and make us ‘shake and shiver all night’.

They certainly can and they definitely have. It’s a refreshing kind of empowerment when so many others just tell us that they can look fantastic. It goes without saying that we need both, but The Pearl Harts send a defiant and inexorable message that carries a lot of rock ‘n’ roll weight behind it.
