Not much is known of Liverpool based singer-songwriter James Canty, but if debut track ‘Strangers’ is anything to go by we might be hearing a lot more about him very soon.

The Essex-born artist’s first release is extremely difficult to pin down to one particular genre, however that in itself is one of the talented musician’s most intriguing qualities.

Strangers’ is a wonderfully eclectic mix of string arrangements, playful banjo riffage and tempered vocals that enrich the entirety of the near four-minute track.

As debut singles go, this is a pretty spectacular effort. Canty is well worth keeping an eye on.
